The Junior Learn to Swim Pathway maintains a focus on fun and games to help children develop the skills they need to become competent swimmers. Children are guided through the Foundation Framework as babies with the support of their guardian in the water to build water confidence. Moving on to the Learn to Swim Framework where they learn basic swimming and water skills through to more advanced techniques in the Aquatic Skills Framework.
The RLSS Rookie Lifeguard programme supports our Learn to Swim programme teaching members essential lifesaving skills
Swim School offers Group lessons, Crash Courses ideal for additional support or learning new aquatic skills and Private lessons for those that need a more individual approach.
Here at Rye we work in partnership with Swim England to deliver their Learn to Swim Pathway for children and adults. Therefore our lesson programmes follow a nationally recognised syllabus and awards system produced by swimming’s governing body.
The Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway incorporates the following frameworks: Foundation Framework
Discovery Ducklings Stages 1-4 (0-24 months)
Ducklings Stages 1-4 (2-5 years)
Learn to Swim Framework Stages 1-8
Delivering fundamental movement skills and developing all 4 swimming strokes
Adult Swim Programme
Improving confidence, competence and technique with no age limit.

The Swim England Awards support the Learn to Swim Pathway by rewarding achievement. The certificates and badges have been designed to encourage children to learn the core skills of each individual award stage, as well as ensuring that they have fun in aquatic sport.
All the instructors are experienced and fully trained to deliver the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway. Swim School Member’s progress feedback is provided by individual reports on request to the swim school coordinator The instructors are all DBS checked and supervised by the centre swim course coordinator.
Freedom Leisure Active Direct Debit membership includes unlimited swimming for our junior members in all open and family swim sessions. Great time to practice the skills you are learning!
What age can children start learning to swim?
Children can start to gain confidence in the water and get used to the swimming pool environment form as young as 6 month. Please enquire about the time of our parent and child sessions on the form above.
How do I find out about lesson availability?
Please press the enquire button below and our swim co-ordinator will be in touch. Lessons run throughout the week and we will help you to find a convenient time for you.
How do I pay pay for the lessons?
Lessons can be paid for termly via easy monthly direct debit.
Do I need to get in the water with my child?
All children under 3 years old start in an adult and child session, when the child is 3 they can they move into stages without an adult. At this point adults can sit on the convenient pool balcony whilst enjoying a coffee from the freedomcafé.
