The much needed and essential maintenance to replace high level glazing above the pool halls is nearing completion and the pools are due to reopen to the public on Saturday 14th October.
Built in the 1980’s the building, in the centre of the city provided swimming and health and fitness facilities for around 350,000 members and visitors last year. They include many children and adults learning to swim, and under 16s who swim for free under a public health council initiative.
The works ensure that people can continue to use the facilities for years to come. We would like to thank everyone for their patience during the works and look forward to welcoming swimmers back.
We apologise for the disruption that this closure to the pools has caused. These essential health and safety works to replace the roof glazing has unfortunately been unavoidable. We are pleased that the work is on schedule and look forward to re-opening on 14th October.Chris Lovelock, Freedom Leisure Area Manager
