The team at Freedom Leisure is delighted to say a BIG HELLO to all residents of New Forest! We will be working in partnership with New Forest District Council for the next 11 years to operate your local leisure facilities on their behalf.
We are really looking forward to supporting your health, fitness and sporting journey. For those of you who may be reading this but do not currently use any of the centres – we would like to offer you a warm welcome to come along and meet the team.Ivan Horsfall Turner | Managing Director, Freedom Leisure
IMPORTANT CHANGE to the telephone number FROM 1 JULY.
The telephone number will have to change from the 1 July 2021 so please continue to use the current phone number until then.
The new telephone number is:
There may be a short down time before phone lines are connected and operational. We’ll work with our contractors to ensure this is kept to a minimum to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience.
Who is freedomleisure?
Freedom Leisure is a not-for-profit leisure trust which manages leisure and cultural facilities on behalf of partners across the UK.
We are extremely proud to deliver high quality, locally-focussed services and are committed to their ongoing development. As we are not-for-profit with no shareholders, all surplus is reinvested to deliver on the objectives we share with our partners.
By being a member and customer of your local Freedom Leisure centre rather than a private health club, the fees you pay go towards helping to support projects, improvements and the services you receive.
‘Where You Matter’ is our motto – enabling people to make the most of their leisure time, to be a fun and rewarding place for our staff to work and to support our partners with the provision of great community facilities.
It is not the Freedom Leisure way to simply enter a new contract and change everything to ‘the way we do things.’ We understand that one size doesn’t fit all. Instead we will work with the existing team members to continue their good work, whilst developing and improving where we can.
At Freedom Leisure we truly believe that the local team is the biggest asset to the centres. They have in-depth knowledge about the facilities, the area, the local requirements and most importantly, you, our customers. We will use their knowledge, coupled with our experience of operating leisure centres, to ensure that all the centres are the best they can possibly be.
Current membership benefits will continue after the transfer to Freedom Leisure however the council have informed us of an increase in charges from 1 July 2021 (excluding Price For Life members). We will write to you and let you know the changes before your Direct Debit collection in July. You do not need to do anything and your membership will continue and you can use the centres as normal. There will be the opportunity to take advantage of a Freedom Leisure Connected Membership – giving you access to all of the other, UK-wide Freedom Leisure centres, great for those who like to stay active when they travel for business, visit family or holiday. Ask at your centre for more information about this.
Current bookings will be unaffected but facility hirers will need to complete a new booking form when they next renew a booking. Please email the centre on the email addresses listed on page 2 of this newsletter with your details so they can send you a Freedom Leisure booking form and ensure the continuity of your booking.
Freedom Leisure prides itself on operating friendly, welcoming centres which are so much more than just gyms. Across the Freedom Leisure group we have a huge and varied range of activities, from racket sports, to swimming pools, athletics tracks, and sports halls to climbing walls, ice rinks and studios; plus social spaces to enjoy a coffee, soft play, children’s and adults sports clubs and events halls.
And most importantly we welcome everyone – no matter what age, ethnicity, gender or ability. Our centres are easily accessible, cater for everyone and are judgment free.
The transfer of services will be a very busy time for the local team and we will be supporting this by having some of our existing staff from other contracts in each centre for the first 10 days. In preparation for the transfer, some systems will have a period of down time including the phones, App and reception till systems. We are already working very hard with New Forest District Council to minimise any disruption to customers so please bear with us whilst we get all systems up and running.
You will also notice some changes to signage prior to 1st July as we will be starting the install of signage from 28th June.
Websites and App
If you currently use the centres on a regular basis you’ll be familiar with using the App for bookings. We will be providing all centre users with the same functionality as you do currently but on a new Freedom Leisure App.
More details will be provided soon but you will need to download the Freedom Leisure App from your chosen App store once all the centres have been added and everything is live. This may not be available straightaway as we configure the bookings and payment software but we’re hopeful that during week one of operating we’ll be able to give you access. We will contact you by email as soon as the App is ready and information will be available on social media, on our websites and in the centres on what you need to do to download the new Freedom Leisure App.
All the centres are on our website which are all optimised for a mobile device. The websites are now live where you will find the centre timetables, news, special offers and more detailed information on the products and services we offer.
We look forward to seeing you very soon.
