Swim School Newsletter- February 2020

February 13 2020

It’s been a busy few months for our swim school. We have been looking at ways to develop our scheme across different ages and abilities. We would love to get as many of you as possible in the water and enjoying it…. from babies to adults, the nervous swimmer to the advanced.

Distance challenge - Sunday 9 Feb, 7.00-8.00pm- What a success!!!

An additional session offered free of charge to our swimmers on stages 8, 9, 10, junior fit and rookies. This was a great opportunity for swimmers to test their skills and fitness a little further and meet new friends from across the swim school. We had 18 swimmers from across the scheme attempting new distances ranging from 800m to 2,000m- all who participated were awarded their badge, some even swum further than they had planned! Have a look on our Facebook page for further images of the event! Well done to all!

Keep your eyes peeled for other events of this kind, next time we are hoping to run some time trials!

Swimathon: 27-29 March 2020

We are proud to be hosting the Swimathon at the Splash. We have two sessions: Friday 27th March 6.30-9.00am and Sunday 29th March 6.00-9.00pm.  Enthusiasm to participate amongst our staff has been growing and we are excited to have a number of staff teams and individuals entering, who we will be introducing to you via our Facebook page in the lead up to the event. All ages can take part and we would love to have some of the children from the swim scheme doing so!

This is a fantastic event to encourage participants to get in the pool and get fit for a distance challenge of their choice ranging from 400m to the triple 5k. Medals are available for all participants.  More importantly this is a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. Come and join us…either in the pool and help with our fundraising efforts!

Check out our staff team! All doing the Triple 5k Challenge!

What’s new?!

February half term (Monday 17th-Thursday 20th)

Breaststroke & Butterfly Clinic 9.00-9.30am

Our first stroke clinic aimed at children in stages 5 and 6 who feel they may need a little extra confidence boost in these strokes to help them through their badge. These sessions will be run by our instructor Kate. This session is now full but we will definitely run more in the future!

We will also be running our usual crash courses this week for those on stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. All crash courses £24 per child and run during each school holiday. Keep checking our website for news on our Easter holiday crash courses.

Home Portal….

Did you know that you can view your child’s progress in their swimming lesson online, at home? Simply visit this website https://malvernsplash.courseprogress.co.uk/register to register; you will just need to access your unique reference number from reception beforehand! Your child’s progress should be updated by their instructor on a weekly basis (one criterion per week). If you are having problems using Home portal, or you believe your child’s progress is not being updated, please report this to reception. Knowing what your child needs to work on gives you a great reason to use your unlimited swimming, get your little one practicing their skills outside their lessons!

Overshoes!

As you may have noticed, we are no longer providing overshoes for use in the changing room. This is with the aim of reducing the use of plastic and waste to benefit the environment. We now ask that all customers; adults and children, remove their shoes when entering the changing room- thank you in advance, for helping us to keep this area clean and helping the environment!

Thank you…..

A big thank you to all of our loyal swim school customers! Here at Malvern Splash our aim is to help create safe and competent swimmers who enjoy swimming, it is not simply about learning to swim. Swim England recommend that all children complete Stage 7 to gain all the skills they need!
