Maldwyn Leisure Centre, Newtown, is proud to be playing a key role as a mass vaccination centre in the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccinations in north Powys.
The centre has been facilitated through a partnership between the centre operator Freedom Leisure, Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board and Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO).
In just five weeks over 12,500 vaccine doses have been administered from Maldwyn Leisure Centre with up to 1,036 vaccine doses being delivered in just one day. Second dose vaccinations are also now being administered for people who received their first dose vaccination in December.
To support the roll-out of the vaccine Powys Freedom Leisure employees are supporting the clinical staff from Powys Teaching Health Board on site, along with PAVO volunteers and the armed forces.
