how to access Maldwyn Leisure Centre under the 'new normal'

August 10 2020

We're super excited to be opening on 3rd May and getting you back to exercise at your favourite Leisure Centre.  However, things are going to be a little different to when we closed back in March.

We've been working hard to make sure the safety of our customers and staff is our number one focus. We will be following our 'COVID-safety-matters' guidelines and maintaining social distancing within the centre and having a robust and thorough cleaning regime in place to ensure all our customers have the best environment to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing.

general changes

Entry is through the normal leisure centre entrance. There will be clear signage showing the routes you are required to take around the centre and areas that are out of use. Please use the top corridor to exit the building through the fire exit by the gym for all activities.

Changing rooms and showers will be unavailable except for those using our swimming pools. Customers are asked to come prepared i.e. beach ready, with swim wear worn under clothing to minimise your time spent in changing rooms.

We can only accept contactless payments. Please bring change with you if required, for lockers (poolside only) or vending products.

Our staff will be on hand as always but please remember to respect the social distancing rule when requesting assistance from our team members.

Gym sessions are now open sessions, you will not have to book*.

Your entry will be through reception, over the top corridor and in to the gym, your exit will be the fire exit next to the gym. Unisex toilets will be availble in the changing room opposite the gym as well as portable toilets outside the fire exit.

The gym will have limited numbers in there to give you confidence and space to enjoy your session.

*There will be ONE bookable slot on Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm, this is due to less space in the building because of the amount of classes available at this time.

All fitness classes MUST be booked in advance.  Please book your session online here

Ideally customers should bring their own mats for classes. If using our centre mats please ensure these are fully sanitised after use.

Our classes will mainly take place in The Studio and now OUTSIDE.  We have altered maximum customer numbers per class to suit the room.

Our revised group exercise timetable can be seen here

  • All class equipment will be thoroughly cleaned between sessions, 5 mins of the session must be allocated to cleaning your own equipment.
  • Please make sure you visit reception prior to your class to register your visit.

swimming pool

We have selected timeslots for swim sessions, please book here. Please find our pool timetable here.

Customers must arrive 'beach ready', so costume/swimwear underneath clothing so it limits changing room time. Timeslots are 60 minutes long, 50 mins swim time and 10 minutes change time at the end of the session.

racket sports

Unfortunately we cannot provide squash or badminton courts at present. This is because those facilities are being used for the Mass Vaccination centre. In the meantime, your memberships will cover all other freedom sites. We will update as soon as they become available.

running track

You are able to use our running track from May 3rd. Runners must follow social distance rules unless from the same household or bubble. You must book either over the phone or at reception so we can track and trace visits.

We have implemented and enhanced our cleaning regime throughout the centre.  All areas will be cleaned regularly.  It is essential that members clean down each machine after use – equipment may not be shared unless it has been cleaned down between uses.

Hygiene stations are available in all high-touch areas offering hand sanitiser and medical-grade disinfectant and sanitising wipes.

Personal gym towels are permitted but please use wipes and paper towels provided when cleaning down equipment and dispose of them after each use.

what we need from you

  • Please DO NOT come to the centre if you are feeling unwell.
  • Please take responsibility for social distancing measures by adhering to the floor markings and posters and avoid congregating with others before and after classes/sessions.
  • Please don’t arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your booking.
  • Please ensure you wipe down all equipment before and after use using the sanitisation wipes or spray provided.
  • Please leave all valuables at home and only bring your essentials – there will be water bottles available to purchase but no cups will be provided. No cash payments will be taken.
  • Please ensure you check in at reception before entry.
  • Please be kind.  Respect others and respect our staff who are working hard to ensure all the rules and regulations are followed that will allow us to remain open.
  • If you wish to wear a mask to train then please do, we will, however, not be enforcing the wearing of masks
  • We would ask members NOT to wear disposable gloves whilst in the facility but to sanitise your hands before/after using each piece of equipment.

We look forward to seeing you back at Maldwyn Leisure Centre very soon.
