Llanidloes Sports Centre formally opens the new gym - March 2nd.
On Thursday 2nd March, Llanidloes Sports centre formally launched it's new gym after a £36,000 investment by operarators Freedom Leisure, with local rally driver and centre member David Higgins, cutting the ribbon in the precence of councillors and local dignitaries.
Higgins is a full member of the centre, regualrly using both gym and partaking in fitness classes on offer as part of his training. While his children also use the centre often, including being part of the popular and sccessful swim school.
Freedom Leisure which operates the centre on behalf of Powys County Council, committed to the refurbishment upon winning the contract back in 2015, in order to ensure the centre meets the needs of the local community.
The refurbishment, which was completed just before Christmas, saw the gym recieve new flooring, and the addition of air conditioning, while adding a functional training area. New equipment was also added, including state of the art cardiovascular Technogym kit.
Theresa Lloyd, Freedom Leisure Centre Manager, said "we are very proud of the new gym facility as it now has the latest equipment required for a total body workout. The new gym has something for everyone in the local community, whatever their fitness level and ability, so form beginners, to advanced gym users, we urge locals to pop in and have a look at this wonderful space."
Lloyd adds "We are absouluty delighted that David could join us for the launch and agreed to open the facility, as a local sportsman he is an inspiration to many youngsters and a good example of how the provision of good local leisure facilities can support those pursuing a sports career."
