Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre offers something for everyone in our gym. We have a dedicated team of qualified fitness instructors that are here to ensure that whatever your fitness goals, we can help you every step of the way.
We offer an initial gym orientation to all new members, where you will be able to discuss; your fitness goals, visits per week, likes and dislikes, and recieve an overview of exercise options including group exercise class sessions. Knowing what you would like to achieve will mean that we can work together to achieve your goals.
Our gym includes state of the art Technogym fitness equipment. Our fitness instructors will be able to devise an exercise programme for you to follow and load it onto a memory stick / TGS key. During each visit you will be able to check in using your personalised key, plug in to each piece of equipment and allow the key to set up your training levels programmed by your instructor. At the end of your workout you can view your results; calories burnt, distance travelled and much more. Keep track as your health and fitness improves with each session.
We offer ongoing programme reviews as part of your membership. Book in with our instructors, learn something new, try a class, we will keep you on track!
Our range of equipment includes: Technogym CV equipment, Technogym fixed weights machines, concept 2 rowers, a dedicated free weights area, cable machines, Schwinn spinning bikes, functional training equipment and much more!
Working out in groups is motivational, sociable and really does get you in shape, whether it be pump, spin, step, zumba, dance, aquafit or circuits...
With classes in our dance studio, sports hall and aqua classes in the pool, there's always something on at a time to suit you. All ages and abilities are catered for.
20/20/20: This class will consist of 20 minutes of any for of cardio, 20 minutes of strength training and then 20 minutes of toning, a great all-rounder, when it comes to fitness and fun.
Ab Attack/Abs & Stretch: Hi/lo fat burning aerobics followed by intensive abdominal/core for an all over workout of the stomach and waistline.
Aqua Aerobics: Aerobics session in the pool that can maintain and improve stamina, strength and suppleness as well as increase cardiovascular fitness.
Aqua Bootcamp: A low impact, high energy workout. The workout takes place in shallow water and classes will incorporate exercise on poolside. We advise wearing clothing over swimwear when attending sessions.
Body Conditioning: Toning, strength and endurance. These classes are designed to get your muscles working.
Cardiostretch Fusion: A higher intensity alternative to yoga and pilates whilst still incorporating some of the moves.
Pilates: An exercise technique using controlled movements to functional and core strength.
Freedom Indoor Cycle: Indoor cycling set to music, using stationary bikes in a class environment, high intensity and low impact.
Freedom Circuits: A traditional workout where participants can work as hard as they want, moving from station to station using a range of equipment.
Freedom Running Club: Outdoor running club combining a varied programme including long distance and sprint training.
Fitball: Floor exercises using a stability ball to tone up and strengthen those problem areas, in particular abs, legs and bums.
Legs, Bums and Tums: An exercise to music class that concentrates on the lower part of the body using a combination of dumbbells and body weight exercises.
Step and Shape: An excellent combination of easy to follow step routines combined with all over body toning.
Supple Strength: A blend of yoga, pilates and stretching to strengthen your abdominals, back and bum while shaping and firming your arms and legs. By using your own body weight resistance, you will engage several muscle groups at one time, strengthening one set while stretching another.
Tai Chi: An ancient Chinese form of exercise, combining meditation and exercise. It strengthens the muscles, regulates energy channels and maintains balance of the nervous system.
Total Body Conditioning: A higher intensity class for a total body workout to increase body tone and conditioning. May include equipment such as hand weights and steps.
Yoga: A form of gentle precision exercise, using breathing and relaxation to enhance the union of body and mind. Improves stability, energy, relaxation, balance and tranquility.
Physical activity can play an important role in preventing and managing health conditions such as; coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, mental health problems, musculoskeletal conditions and some cancers. It also has a positive effect on wellbeing and mood, providing a sense of achievement or relaxation and release from daily stress. Our exercise referral scheme takes place at Bersted Park Community Centre.
