Here at King Alfred we run a great mixture of classes from Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat and Body Balance to Indoor Cycling and Pilates. We cater for all fitness levels from beginners to more advanced!

We run an ‘everybody welcome’ policy so grab your trainers and a bottle of water and see what fitness goals you can achieve with us here at King Alfred.

Drawing from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai.

Supported by high energy music, you strike, punch, kick  your way through calories to superior cardio fitness.

Les Mills Body Balance

Body Balance incorporates the principles of Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates for a great workout for mind, body and spirit.

With great music and a mixture of disciplines Balance is a great introduction to the world of holistic well, being, core strength and mindfulness.

Take time to stretch, move and meditate. Block out all the noise and get lost in this calm but challenging workout.

When is it on..?

Indoor Cycling

Like to burn 400 calories in a single 45 min workout? This is the session for you, no skill needed just energy. 

Indoor Cycling, also known as Spin, takes you through a varied cycle journey building endurance, speed and recovery and power.

A great way to get into Group Exercise, if you are nervous you can sit at the back, take your time and build your level slowly. If you are struggling to keep up - just drop your resistance and recover!

If you already enjoy Group Exercise and you think your cardio fitness is already good, we challege you to try 45 minutes of Indoor Cycling and then tell us again!

High Intensity Interval Training - HIIT

Our High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) takes place in our unique part of the gym,

HIIT training is scientifically proven to increase your fitness fast. This class is a challenge but can be adapted to your individual needs and abilities - so don't shy away. 

This is a serious 30 minutes high calorie burn using all functional equipment like battle ropes, sand bags, kettle bells and much more.

Taking place in our functional room and run by our gym team, feel free to ask them for more information before you book on.

Pilates

Focusing on low impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements.

Pliates emphasizes proper postual alignment, core strength and muscle balance.

Perfect for those with injuries, weakness and imbalances or those trying to build strength in specific areas. 

Often mistaken for an 'easy' class Pilates can be very challenging but is easily adapted to your level. 

Many gym goers think they are strong with great core strength but all could benefit from weekly Pilates - building from a strong base is key!

Core Conditioning

A 1 hour class that focuses on strengthening core muscles. Warming you up correctly, building strength and stretching at the end.

This class will Strengthen lower back and the abdominal muscles  to get the whole core area working correctly. Building hip, glute and back strength is vital along your fitness journey.

These core muscles are the building blokcs for everything we do and taking the time to work them properly will help you in all aspects of not just fitness but day to day life as well.
