Izaak Walton, author of the 'Compleat Angler' owned this charming cottage that nestles in the tiny hamlet of shallowford, between Stafford and Eccleshall. The thatched 17th century building is of interest to anglers and non-anglers alike. Although the cottage has limited opening times for the public, we can offer groups the chance to explore the cottage and grounds at other times of the year too.
Izaak Walton is best known for his love of fishing but during your visit we aim to expand on this, showing you Izaak Walton the Merchant, the clergyman, a keen writer and loyal Royalist. Not forgetting his contributions to the genre of biography and his influence as an early conservationist.
So whether you are an angling group, a U3A or a Scout group, we are happy to tailor your visit to meet your requirements. To discuss booking your visit please do not hesitate to give us a call at the Anicent High House on 01785 619131.
