This will start with the opening of the 50 metre pool for pre-season lane swimming. These will be one hour sessions and are bookable online. We will be offering slow, medium and fast lanes so everyone is catered for.
Bookings are now live and going fast and with restricted numbers per session we expect demand to be high so make sure to get in early!
Ivan Horsfall Turner Freedom Leisure’s Managing Director will be one of the first to take the plunge and James Whiteman, Managing Director and Jonathan Sewell, Leisure Services Manager will be coming along from Guildford Borough Council as well as members of Friends of Guildford Lido (FOGL) to celebrate the reopening.
We are delighted to be reopening Guildford Lido on 29th March and I can’t wait to be one of the first back in the water. The Lido is much loved in Guildford so this is really good news for the town. I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to Guildford Borough Council for their excellent support over the last 12 months and also to FOGL for their ongoing support of the Lido and for their input in to our re-opening plansIvan Horsfall Turner | Freedom Leisure's Managing Director
The Friends of Guildford Lido said; “We are delighted to see the Lido adapt during the current challenging times, continuing to provide enjoyment and health benefits, to tens of thousands of visitors”.
In line with Government guidance, there will be no access to the changing facilities until step 2 of the road map so swimmers should arrive changed and ready for their swim. Changing facilities will be available for any disabled customers that require them and we plan to have a small marquee available for post swimming. Toilet facilities will be available for all users.
Again in line with Government guidance, take away refreshments can be bought and enjoyed on site but take away only.
The Workshop gym will reopen in step 2 from April 12th subject to Government guidelines, and all changing facilities for the pool and gym will be available from this date. The Lido grounds will reopen allowing lane swimmers and visitors to enjoy the space while following the Rule of 6 or household bubbles.
From 17th May public swimming will return in line with the Government road map, and the slides and paddling pools will reopen. Season tickets will also go on sale from Monday 29th March.
For the most up to date information on opening times and dates go to www.freedom-leisure.co.uk/centres/guildford-lido/ where we will also be updating the pool temperature on a daily basis.
Freedom Leisure and Guildford Borough Council look forward to welcoming people back to this fantastic outdoor pool set in landscaped gardens just in time for the start of summer.
