We are excited to announce that Cefn Hengoed will be reopening on the 9th of November!

Welcome back!

We can't wait to see you as we prepare to reopen on the 9th of November. Please read on for more guidance around your membership and what you can expect from your visit to Cefn Hengoed.


Good news!

Whilst Cefn Hengoed opens with reduced operating hours, we are able to offer members the option to train at our sister site Morriston Leisure Centre!

Please note that you will only be able to book sessions for Morriston LC during the hours that Cefn Hengoed is not operating. To familiarise yourself with our opening hours, please visit the main Cefn Hengoed webpage.


General changes

  • There will be clear signage displaying the routes you are required to take around the centre and areas that are out of use. If in any doubt, please keep to the right hand side in corridors and on stairs at all times.
  • You will need to book your gym or class session in advance.
  • You willl need to wear a face covering when you are not taking part in physical activity, please remember to bring yours with you.
  • Changing rooms and showers will be unavailable. Customers are asked to come prepared and to shower and change at home.
  • Our staff will be on hand as always but please remember to respect the social distancing rules when requesting assistance from our team members
  • Our gym equipment will be spaced out to allow social distancing at all times. There may be some areas that are being utilised for different things such as the sports hall used for classes.

booking your gym session & classes

Please only make a booking if you plan to attend, those who regularly book then cancel may have booking rights suspended.

Once we re-open on the 9th we will take bookings by telephone on 01792 798484. Whilst Cefn Hengoed is closed and you cannot reach us, you may call Morriston Leisure Centre to book your place at either site instead on 01792 797082.



All gym sessions at the centre MUST be booked in advance. You will no longer be able to just walk into the centre for your workout. You can book your 55 minute session easily by telephone, and you can book up to 8 days in advance as a member and 7 days in advance as a non member. Sessions will start on the hour for every hour that we're open.

We remind you to also bring your Freedom card in order to gain access and be registered as part of our track & trace system. You will be able to book up to 5 sessions per week and may only participate in one activity/ session per visit.

When arriving, please wait at reception where there may be a queue, you will then be permitted to enter the gym. Late entrants will still be required to leave at the allocated time and will not be permitted to stay longer. This will allow us time to clean the area before the next session and to allow as many people as possible to use the facility each day.



All classes MUST be booked in advance. Our classes will be bookable by telephone, you will be able to book up to 8 days in advance as a member and 7 days in advance as a non member and may book 1 class per day, participating in one activity per visit. We remind you to also bring your Freedom card in order to gain access and be registered as part of our track & trace system. 

Please see the following guidance on preparing for your classes:

  • Customers should bring their own mats for classes.
  • All class equipment will be thoroughly cleaned between sessions.
  • Extra time will be allowed in between classes for cleaning.
  • Class start times will be staggered to avoid congestion.
  • Classes will be shorter in duration and will finish promptly to include time for any equipment to be cleaned after the class has finished.

We have implemented and enhanced our cleaning regime throughout the centre. All areas will be cleaned regulalrly. It is essential that members clean down each machine after use – equipment may not be shared unless it has been cleaned down between uses.

  • Hygiene stations are available in all high-touch areas offering hand sanitiser and medical-grade disinfectant and sanitising wipes.
  • Personal gym towels are permitted but please use wipes and paper towels provided when cleaning down equipment and dispose of them after each use.

  • Please DO NOT come to the centre if you are feeling unwell.
  • Please wear a face covering when entering the building, and at all times when not taking part in physical activity.
  • Please take responsibility for social distancing measures by adhering to the floor markings and posters and avoid congregating with others before and after classes/sessions.
  • Please don’t arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your booking.
  • Please ensure you wipe down all equipment before and after use using the sanitisation wipes or spray provided.
  • Please leave all valuables at home and only bring your essentials – there will be water bottles available to purchase but water fountains will not be in use. No cash payments will be taken.
  • Please ensure you swipe your membership card on entry to allow us to keep track of attendance
  • Please be kind. Respect others and respect our staff who are working hard to ensure all the rules and regulations are followed that will allow us to remain open.
  • We would ask members NOT to wear disposable gloves whilst in the facility but to sanitise your hands before/after using each piece of equipment.

We will not be able to answer any telephone queries at Cefn Hengoed or any of our other Swansea sites during lockdown, as we're busy getting our centres ready to reopen for the 9th of November, and we will deal with your queries as quickly as we can.
