This year Gareth, Duty Manager, Instructor and Personal Trainer at Builth Wells Sports Centre, is taking on the massive challenge of 3 Ironman events. Gareth has set himself a goal to raise £3000 for MacMillan Cancer Support. I’m sure we all agree is a very worthwhile cause.
Gareth’s Mum and Grandma are both currently battling cancer and with the help and support from Macmillan, Gareth has set this challenge to raise awareness and give something back to people who help so many.
The challenge kicks off on the 10th of June in Zurich with a 70.3 Ironman. Followed closely 7 days later a 70.3 Ironman in Luxembourg. The Ironman 70.3 refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race. Consisting of 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run.
Completing the trio with in September with Ironman Wales. A short trip to Tenby for one of the World’s toughest Ironman courses. This is a 140.6 miles including a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run.
All the staff and Gareth’s friends and family at Builth Wells and I am sure all of you in Freedom Leisure would like to Gareth good luck for the events.
