An update for September 2018 from the Arun Leisure Centre Swim School.

arun leisure centre swim school newsletter - september 2018

We hope that you have all enjoyed the summer holidays and made the most of the lovely weather we had.  We had various sessions on over the 6 weeks which were all very well received.  Synchronised Swimming with Mandy proved to be a big hjit and we are aiming to make this a regular holiday sessions along with the distance badges.

The Swim School is extremely busy at the moment with over 1600 children attending classes and we are in the process of adding new classes to our programme to try and meet the demand.  The result of this has been a lot of movement with the teachers between classes as we try to match the correct teacher with the classes.  This will hopefully now start to settle down and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and understanding during this period of change.

customer feedback

We have received lots of feedback regarding the lack of information given back to parents regarding the progress of their children within the classes.  Carolynn is in the process of devising an assessment sheet which the teachers will complete twice a year, which will give you an idea of where your child is with each stroke.  We are hoping to do the first of these assessments before the Christmas break.  This assessment will be quite basic but will highlight areas that need improving.  However, should you have any major concerns you should always contact Carolynn via email on carolynn.quinlan@freedom-leisure.co.uk

We want to hear from you!

We do appreciate any feedback from yourselves as we are always looking for ways to improve the service you receive.  We would also like to hear from you if you have any ideas of how we can expand the programme that we currently offer.  There is a feedback form online at our website on the Arun Leisure Centre home page.  Simply click the box that says 'Feedback' and you will be taken to a form where you can enter your comments, suggestions or complaints.  Make sure you choose pool as the area and mention swim school when writing your comments.

general rules - how you can help us

In order to help us keep your child safe please remember:

  • No under 8's can go in the main pool without an adult - regardless of swimming ability
  • Please encourage your child to wear their swim hats, not only does this keep the hair out of eyes and off the face, but it also instantly alerts the lifeguards to the swimming ability of the child

To help us keep the pools and poolside areas clean and hygienic, please remember:

  • No buggies on poolside
  • No standing/waiting/sitting on poolside
  • No access to poolside from the viewing gallery.  This access is purely for emergency access and for staff
  • If your child attends Stage 1, 2 or 3 please make sure you are around just in case they need your assistance i.e. toilet breaks
  • Please make sure your child showers before their swimming lesson
