Lane Swimming and Swim for All

September 24 2020

Please wear a face covering when moving around the centre

Thank you for your co-operation

Swimming is changing from 1st October 2020

Following a review of the numbers of people using our pools from the 1st October we will be making some changes to how the lane swimming and swim for all sessions will operate in the main pool. (Learner pool swim for all sessions remain the same) Guidance on these can be found below.

By making these changes it will give our customers greater flexibility of when they swim and for how long. We have increased the pool opening times, however we still need to cater for all of our customers and this will mean that the pool will remain closed for public swimming during some private bookings, our swimming lesson times and whilst schools are using the pools.

Whilst we appreciate that the times are not ideal for everyone, especially during the late afternoon we have tried to make swimming accessible to everyone.

The changing rooms, toilets and poolside and touch points will be cleaned on a regular basis and we will ensure the centre remains to be a safe and friendly environment for all.

Our new pool times can be found here

Please note swim for all swim sessions are called open swim with lanes on our timetable.

Lane Swimming from Thursday 1st October

Following a review of the numbers attending our swim sessions and in order to offer our customers greater flexibility, you will no longer need to book in advance for swimming in the main pool. By having more flexible hours available we believe this will mean less people entering the pool at once and will make social distancing easier.

  • Lane swimming is for adults and young people aged over 12.
  • Lane swimming will still be available as per the pool programme on the website but not all sessions will be in 45 minute slots, some sessions will have been made longer which will give you greater flexibility with your swimming times and duration of your swim.
  • You will no longer need to pre book to come swimming as our numbers have not reached capacity since opening and we are confident that this will continue to be the case. We will of course continue to monitor the numbers.

  • Before your swim you will need to take a pre-swim shower in the family shower area

  • There should be no overtaking. No stopping at the end of the lane, unless you have to in order to get your breath back. If this is the case, then you should face away from the pool or get out and rest on the side.
  • We will not be able to provide any floats or pool aids
  • All participants must then vacate the pool, collect their belongings and go to the changing rooms to dry off and get dressed. There will be no showers, you will need to dry off, get changed and then leave via the normal route to reception, and leave via the signal door next to the main entrance there will be
