Across East Northamptonshire, we work with Northamptonshire’s Public Health Team to support where we can to improve the health of local people. We offer local health programmes including; GP Referral, Cancer Rehabilitation sessions, Strokes Service and Falls Prevention. Our staff across local facilities are trained to encourage everyone who wants to improve their health into an opportunity for them.
Health and physical activity come hand in hand and we know the importance of preventing physical and mental health issues later in life as Inactivity has one of the biggest financial impacts on the National Health Service. The proportion of adults who are overweight or obese in East Northamptonshire is higher than the England average with 25.1% of the population with an excess weight.
We aim to provide a variety of friendly and inclusive walks that are free to join and within easy reach of where you live. Our walks are run by volunteer Health Walk Leaders and often involve a chance for refreshments and a chat after the walk.
Our walks run every week to help you establish a routine are ideal for beginners and there is no need to book in advance, just turn up and say hello to the Walk Leader on the day!
