Course Details

The CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music) is your first step to a career in fitness.  It will qualify you to work as a Group Exercise Instructor and is the pre-requisite for a number of additional CYQ fitness qualifications.

Delivering the Training On-Site

If you have a number of staff (say 6 or more) who need to attend it may be cost effective for you if we came to you on days and at times that suit you. 

On-Site Price

To deliver this 5 day course anywhere in Sussex, for a maximum of 16 people, the price is £1800 plus £100 per person.  Additional costs may be added for courses run outside Sussex or run over more than 5 days.

The cost is fully inclusive of trainer, manuals, assessment and certificates, but does not include venue hire or refreshments.  Please note that the venue must be suitable for the course (please ask us for our advice if you are uncertain).  The price quoted is the price you pay – VAT is not applicable.  To book your training or discuss prices, please contact us.

Open Course Price

To attend an open course, the price is £500 per person (no VAT to pay).  Discounts are available for University of Brighton students and staff.

Syllabus

You will learn about the bones and joints, the muscles and muscle actions, the cardio-vascular and respiratory system.  You will also learn how to plan and teach safe and effective exercise sessions, including the principles of training, how to adapt exercise to a suit a variety of exercise levels and how to use a variety of teaching skills, as well as how to motivate and support clients.

Assessment and Certification

You will be assessed by the tutor through the completion of worksheets and practical application of what you have learnt, and you will complete a theory paper that is assessed externally.

Pre-requisites

There are no formal re-requisites, but you must have some awareness and experience of participating in group exercise classes.

REPs

This qualification carries 20 REPs points and allows learners to enter REPs at Level 2.
